Bluestone comes in muted grays, greens, blues, lilac and ferric, which features a rust-red (iron oxide) cast. Fieldstone used in walls and ponds comes in similar colors and may also carry moss and lichens, which turn bright green when wet. Stone looks best when wet. Japanese gardeners actually wet their stone when they are having guests.
